The best places to buy used golf clubs, and how to know the price is fair

eBay, 2nd Swing, GlobalGolf, Callaway Pre-Owned, PGA TOUR Superstore, SidelineSwap and Facebook Marketplace: how each grades, what each takes back, and how to tell a fair price anywhere.

On paper, the most generous return policy on a used golf club is GlobalGolf’s: 90 days, for any reason, for the full price. The catch is in the small print. A pre-owned club goes back for GlobalGolf credit, not a refund, less a $9.99 return label. Callaway Pre-Owned gives you just 15 days, and it’s the only one of the four big used-club stores in this guide that puts the money back on your card for a club you simply don’t like.

Every place that sells used clubs has a catch somewhere, and a grading scale of its own, and none is cheapest for everything. Here is how the main US options compare as of October 2026, and the check that matters more than the store: the price against the target for that exact club.

The short answer

There is no single best place to buy used golf clubs, and the store matters less than the price. To shop many sellers at once, use a marketplace, usually eBay. For graded condition and a guarantee, use a used-club specialist: 2nd Swing, GlobalGolf or Callaway Pre-Owned. To see a club before you pay, try a PGA TOUR Superstore or a local seller on Facebook Marketplace.

Then check the price. Paste the listing into ClubChecks for our algorithm’s target price for that exact club, roughly what buyers pay for one today, a straight verdict, and every live listing under the target, cheapest first, shipping included. A fair price with a thin return policy beats an inflated one with a generous policy.

The main places to buy used golf clubs, compared

What each one is and what happens when a used club turns out wrong, or just wrong for you. The terms are from each company’s own site in October 2026. They change, so read the current policy before a big purchase.

WhereWhat it isReturns on a used club
eBayMarketplace: golfers, small shops and big used-club storesNot as described: refund within 30 days of delivery, even on “no returns” listings. Change of mind: only if the seller takes returns
2nd SwingUsed and new club retailer, five stores and a website30 days from delivery, any reason, even after playing it, as 2nd Swing credit
GlobalGolfOnline retailer, new and pre-owned90 days, any reason, as GlobalGolf credit, less a $9.99 return label
Callaway Pre-OwnedCallaway’s own used-club store, other brands tooFull refund within 15 days of shipment if unhit, then store-credit buy-back to 90 days
PGA TOUR SuperstoreGolf chain that takes trade-ins and resells used clubsExchange only, within 90 days, with the receipt
SidelineSwapUsed sports-gear marketplaceNot as advertised: dispute within 72 hours of delivery. Change of mind: only with paid Seel cover, 7 days
Facebook MarketplaceLocal listings, some shippedPurchase Protection on shipped or checkout orders only; local pickup isn’t covered

Credit is not a refund. 2nd Swing, GlobalGolf and the PGA TOUR Superstore all give store credit or an exchange on a used club you return because you don’t like it. That’s fine if you’ll shop there again, and a real cost if you won’t.

The used-club stores

Callaway Pre-Owned

Callaway’s own used-club shop, which stocks other brands too, TaylorMade among them. Its grading is the most concrete here, because every grade comes with a rough count of rounds played (see the table below). An unhit club returned within 15 days of shipment gets the full price back, with a free FedEx label; shipping and customization aren’t refunded. After that, a buy-back runs to day 90 at 90%, then 80%, then 70% of the price, as store credit, if the club hasn’t been damaged or altered. Callaway says its Certified Pre-Owned clubs are verified as genuine and carry a one-year limited warranty.

2nd Swing

A used-and-new club retailer with five stores and a large online stock, grading on a 10-point scale. Its 30-day play guarantee is the most generous on paper: you can take the club to the course and still bring it back, counting from the day it’s delivered. The catches: you get 2nd Swing credit, not a refund; it’s one exchange per club type per year before a 20% restocking fee; and the club must come back in the same condition category. Headcovers aren’t included with its used clubs.

GlobalGolf

An online retailer of new and pre-owned clubs, with the longest window of all: 90 days, for any reason. It’s also the most restricted. Pre-owned clubs come back for GlobalGolf credit only, which doesn’t expire, minus the original shipping and a $9.99 FedEx return label, with a limit of two returns per original purchase. Only new, unused items get a refund to your card.

PGA TOUR Superstore

The chain takes trade-ins at the Services Desk in its stores, for in-store credit you use the same day, and online for a gift card. Its pre-owned clubs are the other side of that trade. It’s the one store on the list where you can hold the club, look at the face and check the shaft label before paying. Returns are tight: a pre-owned club can only be exchanged, under the store’s 90-day Performance Guarantee, with the receipt, for credit spent that day on the same type of club.

The marketplaces

eBay

eBay isn’t one seller but many: golfers clearing a garage, small shops, and the big used-club stores themselves. Callaway Golf Pre-Owned runs an eBay store, and 2nd Swing lists there too. Condition is whatever the seller writes, so the photos do the grading.

What makes it safer than its reputation is the eBay Money Back Guarantee. Pay through eBay’s checkout, and if the club arrives broken, damaged or different from the listing, you can return it for a refund within 30 days of delivery, with the seller paying return shipping, even when the listing says no returns. Anything paid partly outside eBay isn’t covered. Changing your mind is another matter; that’s down to the seller’s own policy.

SidelineSwap

A used sports-gear marketplace, with golf one of its main categories. The seller is paid only once you’ve received the item in good condition, but the protection is short: you have 72 hours from delivery to dispute a club that isn’t as advertised, and the order becomes final once you approve it, after those 72 hours, or once the club is used. A change of mind is covered only by Seel Return Assurance, a paid add-on at checkout, for 7 days. Open the box the day it lands.

Facebook Marketplace

Good for local deals and older complete sets, and for looking a club over before any money changes hands. The protection is thin. Facebook’s Purchase Protection covers eligible orders bought with shipping or checkout on Marketplace; local pickups and deals done over Messenger don’t qualify. Meet somewhere public, check the face, the shaft label and the grip, and pay once you’re happy.

What “certified pre-owned” buys you

Two of the stores here use the phrase, and each means something specific by it. At GlobalGolf, Certified Preowned is a grade of its own: clubs with limited use that get an inspection from grip to sole, a cleaning, a generic headcover on woods, hybrids and putters, and a 12-month limited warranty against manufacturing defects. Its other used clubs have no warranty beyond the 90-day guarantee. At Callaway Pre-Owned, Certified Pre-Owned means the club is verified as genuine Callaway, with a one-year limited warranty.

Is it worth paying more for? On a current driver or an expensive iron set, often yes, because a warranty and a known source matter most where a fake or a hidden crack would cost the most. On a hybrid with a target around a hundred dollars, a price well under the target is worth more than the paperwork.

The same grade name means different clubs

“Average” is the trap. At 2nd Swing it’s an 8 on a 10-point scale: ball marks and light scratches, nothing major. At Callaway Pre-Owned it’s a 3 to 5, a club with 75 or more rounds on it. GlobalGolf doesn’t use the word at all.

StoreBest used gradeThe middleCheapest grade
2nd Swing9.5 Mint (hit 1–3 times)9 Above Average (under 10 rounds), 8 Average7 Below Average, 6 Poor
GlobalGolfMint (no previous use), Certified Preowned (limited use)Excellent, Very GoodValue (played often, fully playable)
Callaway Pre-OwnedLike New (0–10 rounds)Very Good (10–25), Good (25–75)Average (75+ rounds)

Compare two listings by grade name alone and you can be comparing very different clubs. Read each store’s scale, then trust the photos over the word. On a driver, fairway wood or hybrid, the cheaper grades are mostly cosmetic and often the best buy. On a wedge, the grade tells you about the grooves, and that’s worth paying for.

How to know the price is fair, wherever you buy

Every store prices its own stock, and marketplace sellers price by hope. The only way to compare a 2nd Swing club, an eBay auction and a Marketplace post is against one number for that exact club.

  1. Pin down the exact club. Brand, model and model year first, because names repeat: Titleist has made a new T100 iron every two years since 2019. Then loft, shaft, flex and hand.
  2. Check it on ClubChecks. Paste the listing link, from any store or marketplace, or type the club. You get our algorithm’s target price and a verdict: 15% or more under the target is a great buy, at or under it a good buy, a little over fair, and well over it overpriced.
  3. Compare landed prices. A $250 club with $30 shipping costs more than a $270 club with free shipping. Every target and every listing on ClubChecks includes shipping.
  4. Then weigh the return policy. Between two listings near the target, take the one with the better guarantee. Between a fair price and an overpriced one, the guarantee doesn’t close the gap.

Here is what a fair used price looks like right now:

ClubTarget price, used
TaylorMade Stealth 2 driver (2023)$248
Ping G430 Max driver (2023)$341
Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Max driver (2024)$246
Titleist T100 irons (2023)$734
TaylorMade P790 irons (2023)$780
Titleist Vokey SM10 wedge (2024)$105
Scotty Cameron Special Select Newport 2 putter$288
Odyssey White Hot OG Rossie putter (2023)$157

Newer isn’t always dearer, which is why a store’s “was” price tells you little. When we checked in October 2026, a 2021 Ping G425 Max driver had a higher target, $311, than a 2023 TaylorMade Stealth 2 at $254.

Our picks

And the one to skip: paying well over the target for a store’s return policy. A guarantee is worth a little. It’s never worth the difference between a good buy and an overpriced one, because for a popular model another one will turn up under the target before long.

Choose the store for the protection you need, and the listing by the number.

Questions

What is the best website to buy used golf clubs?

There isn’t one best site for every club. eBay puts many sellers in one place and often has the lowest price on a given model; 2nd Swing, GlobalGolf and Callaway Pre-Owned grade their clubs and back them with return policies. Whichever you use, check the listing’s price against the ClubChecks target for that exact club before you buy.

Is it safe to buy used golf clubs online?

Yes, if you pay through the site’s own checkout and know its return terms. eBay’s Money Back Guarantee refunds a club that doesn’t match its listing within 30 days of delivery, SidelineSwap gives you 72 hours to dispute, and the used-club stores take returns for credit or a refund under their own policies.

What does certified pre-owned mean for golf clubs?

It depends on the store. At GlobalGolf it’s a condition grade for lightly used clubs that are inspected, cleaned and given a 12-month limited warranty. At Callaway Pre-Owned it means the club is verified as genuine Callaway, with a one-year limited warranty.

Can you return used golf clubs bought online?

Usually, but often for store credit rather than money. 2nd Swing gives credit within 30 days of delivery, GlobalGolf credit within 90 days, and Callaway Pre-Owned a full refund within 15 days of shipment if the club hasn’t been hit. On eBay, a change of mind depends on the seller, but a club that doesn’t match its listing can go back within 30 days of delivery under eBay’s Money Back Guarantee.

Is it cheaper to buy used golf clubs on eBay or from a used-club store?

Neither is cheaper every time. Marketplace prices swing further in both directions, so the best deal on a model is often there, along with the worst. Compare each listing’s price plus shipping with the target for that exact club, and buy whichever is furthest under it.

Where can I buy used golf clubs for cheap?

Look for models that are a few years old from the big brands, in the cheaper cosmetic grades, on any site. Check each against its target price: anything 15% or more under it is a great buy. ClubChecks lists every live listing under the target, cheapest first.
