ClubChecks prices golf clubs. To do that it needs the link or club name you give it, and very little else. There are no accounts, no cookies, and no advertising trackers.
What we collect
When you use ClubChecks we receive:
- What you search. The club name or listing link you type or paste. We send it to our server to identify the club and build a target price.
- Your IP address. Like any website, our server sees the address your connection comes from. We use it only to apply fair-use limits on how many searches one visitor can run in a period.
- Which results you click. When you click a listing we record the time, the store, the page we sent you to, and how that link was resolved. We do not tie this to your IP address or to anything that identifies you.
- Standard request details. Browser type and the page requested, as part of ordinary server operation.
We do not ask for your name, email address, payment details, or location, and we have no account system that could hold them.
How we use it
- To match your search to a club, price it, and show you live listings.
- To keep the service fair and available by limiting automated or excessive use.
- To understand which clubs and stores people find useful, in aggregate, so the catalog and results improve.
- To reconcile affiliate commissions with the stores that pay them (see Links and affiliates).
We do not use what you search to build a profile of you, and we do not sell or rent any of it.
What we keep, and for how long
- Searches for catalog clubs are cached as club-level price data for up to 30 days so the next person gets a faster answer. The cache holds prices for a club, not who asked.
- Searches for clubs we don't track yet are noted, without any visitor details, so we can add popular clubs to the catalog.
- Click records are kept for up to 12 months for affiliate reconciliation and product improvement.
- Fair-use counters keyed by IP address live in the server's memory and expire within 24 hours.
Who sees it
- Pricing and listing providers. To price a club we send the club's name and specification, never anything about you, to the marketplaces and data providers we work with.
- Stores you click through to. Once you leave ClubChecks you are on the store's site, under its privacy policy. We send you there with no referrer information from our page. Images of listings are fetched through our server, so image hosts don't see you directly.
- Fonts. Our typefaces load from Google Fonts, which means Google's servers see the request for the font files. No other third-party scripts run on the site.
- Legal requests. We would disclose records if required by law, and there is very little to disclose.
Links and affiliates
ClubChecks is free to use. Some of the links to stores are affiliate links: when you buy after clicking one, the store may pay us a commission. It costs you nothing extra and it never changes the target price, the order of results, or which listings appear. Results are ranked by price alone. Stores don't pay to be included, and no store can move a listing up.
Affiliate networks may set their own cookies when you arrive at the store's site so the store can attribute the sale. Those cookies belong to the store or its network, and their policies govern them.
On your device
ClubChecks sets no cookies. Your browser keeps your most recent results for about 30 minutes in its session storage so the back button brings them straight back. That data stays on your device, is never sent to us, and disappears when you close the tab.
Your choices
- You can use the site without giving us anything but a search.
- Because we hold nothing that identifies you, there is no personal record to export or delete. If you believe we hold something about you, contact us and we will check.
- If you are in California, the EU or the UK, you have rights to access, correct and delete personal data. Our design means there is normally none, and we will honor any request that shows otherwise.
